Description
Assamese Mix Pat Chador Mekhela or Saree is a traditional attire worn by women in the state of Assam, India. It is a combination of two different types of traditional Assamese garments - the Mekhela and the Pat Chador.
Mekhela is the lower part of the dress and is similar to a skirt. It is typically made of silk or cotton and is draped around the waist and held in place by a waistband or a piece of cloth tied at the back. The Mekhela has a broad border at the bottom, usually intricately woven with traditional designs and motifs. It can also have a smaller border on the top, known as the Bapta, which is used to tuck in the Mekhela.
The Pat Chador is the upper part of the dress and is similar to a saree.
