Description
Sanganeri block print is a traditional Indian textile printing technique that originated in the village of Sanganer in Rajasthan. It is known for its intricate designs and vibrant colors, and has been practiced for centuries by skilled artisans.
The process of Sanganeri block printing involves using hand-carved wooden blocks to create intricate designs on fabric. These blocks are typically made from teak wood and have a handle on the back for the printer to hold onto. The designs on the blocks are usually inspired by nature, such as flowers, leaves, and birds.
The fabric used for Sanganeri block printing is usually cotton or silk, as these fabrics absorb the dyes and hold the designs well. The fabric is first washed and then soaked in a mixture of water and gum arabic to make the fibers more receptive to the dyes.
Next, the printer dips the wooden block into the desired color of dye and then stamps it onto the fabric to create the design.
